Bring back fondue!
Having a cheese fondue is for some a completely new experience and for others a reminder of the 70s and 80s when entertainment was never without one.
Discover the pure pleasure of dipping chunks of bread into melted cheese, paired with Durbanville Hills’ Sauvignon Blanc and your favourite friends. It’s the new trendy way to entertain!
Derived from the French word fondre meaning ‘melt’ this warm cheese dish originated in Switzerland. Use a mix of hard and semi-hard cheeses such as Emmenthal and Gruyère with a dash of Durbanville Hills’ Sauvignon Blanc to bring out the flavours. A baguette works very well although any crusty French or Italian style breads will do. When you slice the bread make sure that each piece includes a bit of the crust as it helps keep the bread on the fondue fork after it is placed in the cheese.
And for dessert? Make a decadent chocolate fondue, paired with Durbanville Hills’ Merlot and dip strawberries, nougat, marshmallows and even chunks of pineapple and pear into the heavenly melted sweetness. As an alternative you can add almonds, vanilla and even coffee to the chocolate.
The Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc retails for around R50 and the Durbanville Hills Merlot for about R75.
