LOMOND PINCUSHION AN INTERNATIONAL FAVOURITE
Lomond’s 2009 Pincushion Sauvignon Blanc was one of South Africa’s top ten performers at London’s recent International Wine Challenge (IWC), winning a gold medal, following on its five- star rating in the 2010 Platter’s South African Wine Guide. The single-vineyard wine, named for the pincushion protea found on the Gansbaai estate, exhibits a ripe tropical medley of fruit flavours, tempered by notes of minerality and a lively freshness, says viticulturist Wayne Gabb. “In this single block alone, there is a tremendous diversity lending considerable depth and complexity to the wine.
