CHARDONNAY BARREL TASTING AT DURBANVILLE HILLS
Posted on 11. May, 2011 by BottlePlatePillow in 4) General News, 4) Other Specials, Durbanville Hills
Durbanville Hills’ reserve Rhinofields Chardonnay wouldn’t be as elegant without spending time snug in a barrel. Join Durbanville Hills’ white winemaker, Gunther Kellerman, in uncovering the flavour profile and wood components of this exquisite Chardonnay.
Sample directly from the wooden casks where the Chardonnay has already spent some months slumbering as well as the unwooded wine directly from the tank. There are six different casks used, each lending their own characteristics to the wine. As part of the tasting you will come to appreciate the fine balance it takes for a winemaker to create the final blend from these various components by sampling previous vintage Rhinofields Chardonnays.
The tasting will be followed by delicious Malya kheema (minced beef) curry served with papaya sambal and white rice, and includes a chef’s salad, freshly baked bread and coffee.
