CUVEE’S CABERNET MENU TURNS HIBERNATION INTO A WINTER FOOD CELEBRATION

Simonsig Estate, which celebrates the 40th anniversary of the iconic Kaapse Vonkel – South Africa’s first Méthode Cap Classique this year – is transforming winter from a period of hibernation into a food celebration with a hearty Cabernet Menu at its signature Cuvée restaurant from May until the end of July.
This menu was created around the estate’s full-bodied Labyrinth Cabernet Sauvignon and the dishes are either made with or paired with this red wine named after the Vineyard Labyrinth unique to Simonsig – the world’s first productive vineyard planted in the shape of a labyrinth in 2003.
The Cabernet Menu sizzles with comforting seasonal Cape Country sensations and will be tweaked on a weekly basis to offer new sensory indulgences to complement the Simonsig Labyrinth Cabernet Sauvignon.
Some of the dishes which will turn up the heat on chilly days include black pepper seared tuna with a smooth berry vinaigrette and grilled springbok loin enriched with wild mushrooms. Or think dark chocolate and macadamia nut brownies with berry rippled ice-cream to coax jaded palates.
Before settling down at the table visitors can invigorate their senses by taking a leisurely stroll through the nearby Vineyard Labyrinth.
Cuvée restaurant savours the spirit of friendship with authentic culinary bliss, made with the freshest ingredients harvested from the herb and vegetable garden on the farm. Its homely yet stylish atmosphere, glowing with fireplaces and creature comforts, draw a loyal winter following.
The ‘Cuvée goes Cabernet’ winter indulgence will be available for lunch and dinner as a set three or two course menu ranging from R160 to R190 per head and includes a complimentary glass of Simonsig Labyrinth Cabernet Sauvignon.
Bookings are essential. For reservations or more information contact Cuvée restaurant at Tel: (021) 888 4932 or send an email to cuvee@simonsig.co.za.
