Cabernet |Sauvignon

In the run-up to winter, warm your palate with the newly released 2009 Durbanville Hills Cabernet Sauvignon. This elegant and silky-smooth wine is the ideal partner to lazy evenings spent at home paired with heart-warming home-cooked food such as roast leg of lamb, slow braised lamb shank or with a selection of cheeses like matured Gouda.

According to red winemaker Wilhelm Coetzee, the texture of the wine has been softened by extended skin contact after fermentation and 12 months  in a combination of new, second and third fill French oak.

He says the wine holds aromas of Christmas fruit cake, black cherry, ripe black plums and cedar on the nose. Dark berry fruit and prunes balanced by silky tannins lace the palate to produce a rich, warm mouth-feel.

The 2009 Durbanville Hills Cabernet Sauvignon is expected to retail for about R69.
