Following the tremendous success of the luncheon and late afternoon Tapas offerings at Bistro Sixteen82, the Constantia Valley’s favourite new daytime eatery also provides guests with an alternative Breakfast experience to awaken the senses in style.

With its picture book setting, surrounded by reflection pools, water features and enchanting sensory gardens, Bistro Sixteen82 offers what is surely one of Cape Town’s most spectacular dining locales, illuminated in the early morning with views across the vineyards and beyond. The tranquil interior and terraced dining area are equally conducive to brisk business ‘power breakfasts’, intimate breakfast outings with friends or family, or celebratory champagne breakfast gatherings complete with a delicious glass of Steenberg Cap Classique: the popular 1682 Chardonnay Brut or the newly launched 1682 Pinot Noir Brut with its unique pink salmon colour.

Chef Brad Ball’s compact seasonal Breakfast Menu selection is topped only by the magnificent vistas, and reflects the eclectic taste of Cape Town’s trendy jetset, while offering plentiful portions to please all tastes. Authentic breakfast menu items range from fruity fare such as Fresh Hillcrest summer berries with honey comb yoghurt and toasted almonds, and not-so-traditional Bacon & Eggs (cured pork belly and perfectly scrambled eggs), to Eggs Royale (smoked Franschhoek trout on potato bread with poached eggs and hollandaise sauce), Soufflé omelette with asparagus, basil, cherry tomatoes and toasted ciabatta, and the most perfect vegetarian beakfast dish ever: Shitake, Portobello and King oyster mushrooms with buttered spinach and salmarigli.
A charming and generous touch to the breakfast experience is a serving of freshly baked Brioche which magically arrives at the table, while one is selecting from the menu, served with lashings of butter and melt-in-the-mouth honey, with compliments from the Chef. Freshly squeezed fruit juices, a range of Origin coffees, black, green and white teas, exotic infusions and decadent drinking chocolate round off what can only be described as the ultimate way to start one’s day!

Cited as one of Cape Town’s ‘hottest new spots’ Bistro Sixteen82 is named after the year in which Steenberg was first established. The 70-seater daytime cellar door bistro, together with the new Steenberg Winery, Wine Tasting Bar and Tasting Lounge, offers a new food and wine destination unlike any other.  Commanding a breathtaking position on the Steenberg Estate, it exudes a somewhat industrial feel, with open plan flow, high ceilings and earthy textures offsetting its charming ambience.

Breakfast is served from 09:00 and extending until 11:30 for those who wish to while away the morning over a long, leisurely Brunch. Lunch is served from 12:30 to 16:00, and snack platters are available throughout the day from the interactive Raw Food Bar. A Tapas menu of small tasting portions of select dishes can be enjoyed in the late-afternoon and at sunset (16:30 – 19:30). Ample secure parking is available.
