Popular Stellenbosch Winelands destination, Simonsig Estate, might be considered a golden oldie with its winemaking legacy spanning over more than four decades, but with the exciting new 4×4 adventures now on offer, this wine legend still manages to fuel all the senses.
In addition to wine tastings and sensory indulgences at the signature restaurant, Cuvée, adventure seekers in need of a more adrenalin-filled Winelands experience can now opt for tailor-made, on- and off-road driving courses presented by Land Rover Experience on the estate.
4x4 Land Rover experience at Simonsig
Swap a boring day at the office for a fun outride amidst the vines and take in the Winelands beauty. These 4×4 challenges provide an exhilarating team building experience for groups and corporate teams to up their morale and motivation without the need for a pep talk from the boss.
Or get the boys and girls together for a bachelor’s or hen’s party with a difference and take the wheel of the latest Land Rover model for a gripping self-drive session on the track. These practical driving courses last between two to five hours with the longer option including a trip to the famous Atlantis Dunes.
Land Rover owners wanting to brush up on their 4×4 driving skills and push their vehicle’s navigation and off-road ability to its limits in a responsible and environmentally friendly manner are also welcome to bring their own cars along for the ride.
Wine Tasting at Simonsig
After all the laughter, thrill and enjoyment on the track, visitors should also pop in at the Simonsig tasting room where an informal tasting of any five estate wines costs R25. In celebration of the 40th anniversary of Simonsig’s iconic Kaapse Vonkel – South Africa’s first Méthode Cap Classique – each tasting includes a complimentary taste of this famous sparkler.
Alternatively opt for a private wine tasting at the comfort of your own table at R45 per person including a cellar tour and a sabrage demonstration. A minimum of ten people is required for private tastings.
Renowned for an award-winning Méthode Cap Classique lineage, Simonsig also offers an exuberant bubbly tasting of the estate’s famous benchmarks – Kaapse Vonkel; Kaapse Vonkel Brut Rosé; the off dry Encore; and the flagship Cap Classique, Cuvée Royale – at R40 per head.
Other attractions which make for a memorable visit to Simonsig Estate include a
Vineyard Labyrinth – the world’s first productive labyrinth vineyard unique to the estate – as well as a cultivar garden that showcases all the different grape varietals grown on the farm.
