Steenberg’s trendy cellar door restaurant Bistro Sixteen82 has introduced a tempting Winter Special Offer to take the edge off the winter chill. Diners who enjoy a meal here to the value of R250 or more, will receive a complimentary bottle of one of the easy drinking Klein Steenberg wines (Rose, Sauvignon Blanc or Red Bordeaux Blend). This offer is available until 15 August, when the Bistro closes for its annual 3-week ‘hibernation’.
With its glorious setting amidst the vineyards in the heart of the Constantia Wine Valley, the 70-seater daytime eatery is cited as one of Cape Town’s favourite gourmet ‘hotspots’, exemplifying contemporary chic, and offering a warm and inviting dining venue. Here Executive Chef and bistro specialist Brad Ball serves up an inspired winter menu with Breakfast, Lunch and Tapas options, as well as a Raw Food Bar for those who prefer fresh and healthy raw cuisine, along with the thrill of seeing their meal ‘in the making’.
A leisurely lunch is one of life’s finer indulgences and Bistro Sixteen82 tempts with delicious winter dishes such as the Truffled Potato Soup served with poached free range hens eggs; and the tantalizing Sticky pork belly, a serving of pressed pork lightly coasted in salted palm sugar caramel with sambal olek and stir fry from the main menu. No meal is complete without a taste of its melt-in-the-mouth signature dessert, What’s It Called Dave Jones? – a taste sensation with layers of yummy butter-cream, hazelnut praline and chocolate fondant, designed to melt all resistance.
Those who haven’t yet savoured ‘the tastiest Tapas in town’ from Ball’s inspired tapas menu will relish the chance to match this tempting selection of antipasti and succulent seafood with the perfect sundowner, matched with a glass or two of one of the light and refreshing Klein Steenberg wines. Featuring popular signature dishes such as the Gambas Pil Pil, a serving of Shelled Tiger Prawns smothered in a delectable garlic and chilli oil; and new items such as the exotic Braised Octopus dish served with tomatoes and olives, this is one to pencil in for a late afternoon or early evening culinary escape.
The Steenberg Winery, incorporating Bistro Sixteen82 was named Global Winner Wine Tourism Services in the Great Wine Capitals’ Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2011.
NOTE: Bistro Sixteen82 will close for its annual break from the 15th of August and reopening on the 7th of September. During this period Steenberg’s Catharina’s Restaurant will be open seven days a week.
