Steenberg Vineyards in the Constantia Valley will present a range of fun-filled activities for young and old during the annual ‘Spring it on Constantia’ Festival, which will take place from 14 to 23 October 2011.

An eclectic programme will offer outings for the individual, as well as the whole family. Food and music enthusiasts will relish the chance to ease into the weekend early with a leisurely Friday afternoon of Tapas and Jazz in the tranquil vineyards setting of Bistro Sixteen82 (14 and 21 October from 17h00 to 19h30   – cover charge R50pp).

Alternatively join the Tapas Long Table of Friends in the Steenberg white wine cellar on Saturday 15 October at 19h00, for a rendezvous of social eating at its best, and enjoy a heady mix of great conversation and gourmet cuisine with a glass of the superb Steenberg 1682 ‘bubbly’ thrown in for good measure. On Saturday 22 October from 10h00 to 12h00 wine aficionados will relish the chance to get their hands dirty and gain valuable tips on how best to blend Red wines, courtesy of Steenberg winemaker JD Pretorius (cost R200 per person, including two bottles of your own blend to take home).

The same day, Lazy Locals on the Lawns offers the perfect outing for a family get together, or to catch up with old friends. Indulge in a gourmet picnic on the lawns of the Steenberg Winery where a farmer’s market buzz will prevail, with live music and the option of a game of Boules, in true French style. Entrance and tastings will be R100 per person, and includes a goodie bag with tasting glass, biodegradable plate and cutlery.

Celebrate the joys of ‘Spring it on Constantia’ at this award-winning wine farm in the heart of the Constantia Wine Valley and experience a bout of traditional, warm hospitality among friends. Gather your friends for a sociable evening of Tapas and Talk around our Long Table. Enjoy great conversation in a breathtaking setting while Executive Chef Brad Ball tempts you with a constant flow of tasty morsels from his Tapas menu.  To add a little sparkle to the evening, a complimentary glass of Steenberg’s delicious bubbly is thrown in for good measure.

Saturday 22 October  |  Red Wine Blending  |  10h00 to 12h00 Steenberg Winery White Wine Cellar

Join Steenberg Winemaker JD Pretorius for an enjoyable and enlightening few hours during which you will learn insider secrets of the art and skill of blending Reds. Work with Shiraz, Cabernet and Rose, and take home two bottled and specially labelled wines of your final red blend, signed by JD.

Cost: R200 per person (includes 2 bottles of personalised wine)

Saturday 22 October  |  Lazy Locals on the Lawn  |  10h00 to 16h00 Steenberg Winery Lawns (in front of the Tasting Room and Bistro Sixteen82)

A summer picnic in the magical vineyard setting of this working wine farm, counts among life’s sweetest treats. Gather family and friends and bring along a picnic blanket, choose your spot and meander over to Bistro Sixteen82 and make your choice of gourmet picnic basket filled with yummy culinary delicacies, including a selection of cheeses and olives.  Then sit back, relax and ease into a day of leisurely conversation and gourmet indulgence, with live music and a glass of Steenberg’s fine wine to complete the experience.

Cost:  R100 per person (includes a tasting glass, free wine tasting, free tasting of cheeses, Breads, Olive Products, Charcuterie)
