DGC Wine Club Where every day is a good day for golf... and WINE

Durbanville Golf Club is one of the few golf clubs showing growth over the last couple of years. The club boasts a strong management team and the members are keen to do “stuff”. BottlePlatePillow, aka Charles Lourens, who is a Garagiste Winemaker and a member at the Golf Club, formed the DGC Wine Club. The Club is all about discovering new and interesting wines in an informal environment.

We host tastings every fortnight or so on a Thursday evening (we like to call it; Thirstday). The tastings last for anything between an hour and an hour-and-a-half and conducted by a winemaker or knowledgeable representative. We taste approximately 4 wines and we make use of the halfway-house as our venue. We normally start at 19h15. Not a Durbanville Golf Member? No worries, all welcome, so bring a friend! Oh yes, the tastings are FREE to attend.

The invitations to our upcoming tastings are sent via email; if you would like to be notified of these tastings please subscribe to our list via the form below; the subscription form in the sidebar is for BottlePlatePillow – Wine Farm Search Engine. (Keep in mind that our database is over a 1000 strong so the tastings tend to book up quite quickly).

See you soon!

Previous tastings at the DGC Wine Club

Tasting 4: Val du Charron Catherine Entwistle (17 October 2013). Subsequent to this tasting I’m sure there are many new Wellington fans. Great job Cathy! What a beautiful spot and the wines are great too. It seems that the Reserve collection Chardonnay 2012 (R85) impressed most on the whites. Unwooded Chardonnay with a small percentage wooded Pinot Grigio; interesting…  On the reds, the Black Countess 2011 (R85) took center stage. A Rhone style blend of 44% Shiraz, 24% Pinotage, 16% Mouvedre, 8% Carignan, and 8% Grenache. Visit Val Du Charron for a wine tasting or picnic. 4 Star accommodation with Wedding and Conference facilities.

Tasting 3: Carteirra (Peter Stuart) / Luddite Wines (Niels Verburg) (25th September 2013). Carteirra offers the public a very interesting and unique concept of owning your own barrel, making up your own blend and even bottling and labelling your own wines. To purchase some of the Members Only wines please feel free to contact us for a list of wines currently available.
