STUDENT-RUN GRANGER BAY RESTAURANT: FOOD – SERVICE – SETTING

Student-run Granger Bay Restaurant promises a summer of spoils at their smart restaurant with one of the best ocean views in Cape Town.

The renowned culinary teaching institution; Cape Town Hotel School, part of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, is consistently abuzz with diners enjoying the efforts of the student chefs, sommeliers and servers who help keep the wheels of this top-notch restaurant turning. Aside from the outstanding quality of cuisine and the excellent value that this unique restaurant offers, it is also thanks to its breathtaking Atlantic Ocean views that the 90-plus restaurant remains such a popular dining destination and wedding reception venue.

First time guests will no doubt appreciate the unique structure at Granger Bay Restaurant. Here, many of the core permanent staff is in fact Hotel School alumni. They are ably supported by a group of first, second or third-year students who are given the unique opportunity to work in a real, functioning restaurant.

Well loved as a corporate and leisure function venue, a daily a la carte dining destination and a family-friendly Sunday lunch spot, this elegant ocean-facing restaurant was given a stylish refurbishment late last year and will, for the first time in its history.

The Granger Bay Restaurant Summer Menu brims with hearty offerings ranging from the cheese and meat platter for peckish diners to slow cooked Osso Buco or fragrant Chicken and Prawn Curry. An impressive selection of artfully presented desserts completes the picture. Best of all, this excellent cuisine comes with a very fair price tag, with all main courses under R100 and all starters and desserts under R50.
