Boston Breweries,in Cape Town, was set up by Chris Barnard in 2000. The name comes from a time when Chris was brewing in a vacant space in a local factory called Boston Bag Company. Prior to this, like many young South African people, Chris had gone travelling around Europe and enjoyed drinking the different beers. When he returned home, the beer scene seemed flat in comparison.
Home brewing beckoned and after taking a fact finding trip around Bavaria he decided to do something about it; by September 200 Boston Breweries was a reality. Today it is a busy brewery and currently one of the largest micro-breweries in SA. As well as producing its own beers, Boston Breweries also contract brews for several smaller concerns
