CAPE WINE ACADEMY OFFERS TUTORED TASTINGS AT STELLENBOSCH WINE FESTIVAL

Cape Wine Academy offers tutored tastings at Stellenbosch Wine Festival (Thursday, 28 – Sunday, 31 July 2011)

Learn more about the wonderful world of wine at fun-filled, interactive tastings on offer at the Wine Theatre presented by the Cape Wine Academy during this year’s Stellenbosch Wine Festival, to be held at the Paul Roos Centre from 28 to 31 July.

Catering for both novices and seasoned wine enthusiasts, the Cape Wine Academy has tailor made an exciting programme of tutored tastings as well as a one-day South African Wine Course especially for festival goers. Stimulating topics range from Sizzling Shiraz and Cabaret of Cabernet to Chenin’s Cinderella Story and Simonsig’s 40 years of Excellence devoted to South Africa’s first Méthode Cape Classique, the legendary Kaapse Vonkel.

All tastings comprising six Stellenbosch wines per session, will be introduced by wine industry professionals including Johan Malan, Hannes Meyer and Debbie Thompson of Simonsig and Jeff Grier of Villiera ensuring that you get the most out of these hands-on, tutored wine encounters. The tastings in the Wine Theatre are all available free of charge to festival goers on a first come first serve basis, so be sure to arrive early.

Cape Wine Academy also offers a one-day South African Wine Course at the Stellenbosch Wine Festival on Friday, 29 July 2011. The course covers the five taste sensations of wine tasting, the various varieties, storage, as well as informative insights into winemaking and includes a tutored white and red wine tasting. The Wine Course costs R1 050 per person and includes all course material, tasting glasses, snacks and lunch, as well as free entry to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival for the day. Tickets to the Stellenbosch Wine Festival range from R120 per person per day for online bookings or R140 at the door, to R350 for the Golden Pass for the entire festival. The entry fee to the opening of the festival, an exclusive Wine Connoisseurs Evening from 16h00 till 21h00 on Thursday, 28 July, is R160 per person for online bookings or R180 at the door and includes gourmet delights.
