BISTRO SIXTEEN82 REOPENS AT STEENBERG AFTER ANNUAL BREAK

Steenberg’s trendy cellar door restaurant Bistro Sixteen82 reopens on Wednesday, the 7th of September, after the annual break to recharge its batteries for the onset of the new season. Patrons are no doubt eagerly awaiting the return of Chef Brad Ball and his team, who will be ready to serve up the inspired seasonal menus which this dining ‘hotspot’ in the Constantia Valley has become renowned for.

Bistro Sixteen82 at Steenberg

Ball’s Lunch menu is popular among the trendy set and business brigade, while his late afternoon/early evening Tapas treat offers a tempting selection of antipasti and succulent seafood, best savoured with a glass or two of Steenberg’s fine wines. For those who prefer fresh and healthy raw cuisine, a Raw Food Bar offers diners the thrill of seeing their meal ‘in the making’, including antipasti platters which are available all day.

Steenburger

Among the popular signature dishes served here, is Ball’s legendary gourmet Steenburger. Only ten of these are available to be ordered exclusively on Fridays over the lunch period, with pre-orders resulting in demand outstripping supply every week! Well worth the R105 asking price, the hand-made 80% beef fillet and 20% pork burger is served with rocket, red onion, tomato ‘konfyt’, foie gras and truffle aioli, alongside a bowl of hand cut potato chips, with a delicious parmesan seasoning.

To complement the ultimate hamburger, Bistro Sixteen82’s melt-in-the-mouth signature dessert, What’s It Called Dave Jones? is a sweet masterpiece with layers of decadent butter-cream, hazelnut praline and chocolate fondant providing an irresistible temptation.

Kubu Strings

Another good reason to head out to Bistro Sixteen82 for quality food, wine and fun, is the flaming hot Tapas and Flamenco nights, which take place here every Thursday from 18:00.  These offer an ideal after work and early evening rendezvous, with live music provided by popular guitar duo Kubu Strings, perfectly matched with a glass of Steenberg’s superb food wines.

With its warm, welcoming ambience, quintessential vineyards setting and delicious bouquet of gastronomic delicacies, the Steenberg Winery, incorporating Bistro Sixteen82, was named Global Winner Wine Tourism Services in the Great Wine Capitals’ Best of Wine Tourism Awards 2011.

Bistro Sixteen82 is also a popular breakfast destination (served between 09:00 and 11:30). Lunch is served from 12:30 to 16:00, followed by Tapas in the late-afternoon and at sunset (16:30 – 20:00).
